"A new baby is like the beginning of all things - wonder, hope, a dream of possibilities."   -Eda J LeShan

Modern Quilts
Handmade with love, joy & a whole lotta fun!

Meet my mom, GiGi ,short for Granny Gail.  My mom is one of the most creative people I know.  She is a true artist and can make just about anything that involves a sewing machine, yarn and paint.  She will never call herself an artist but together we call ourselves the "Off Kilter Quilters". We have been making baby quilts together for the past 15 years and we love it.

"Off-Kilter" you ask?

Because our quilts are perfectly-imperfect or imperfectly-perfect (however you want to see it). They're colorful, a bit eccentric and a little wild (just like us).

OUR QUILTS

Our quilts represent freedom, joy & abundance.

It brings us so much JOY to be a part of a baby entering this world.  Every moment we are working we are thinking positive affirmations and prayers for baby (and often shaking our hips and dancing to good music).  We enjoy the entire process and believe baby can feel this the moment he or she lays on the blanket.

What makes them extra special is the amount of meaning and customization we put into it by adding pieces of clothing or special fabric, the colors and patterns we choose and the quilting itself.

All of the quilting is done free hand with a sewing machine and is a piece of art in itself.  We quilt fun shapes & pictures (hearts, butterflies, doodles, stars) and quilt in words (love, hope, passion, dream big...).  We've can also add full quotes and names.  They are one of a kind and tell a story.

We pride ourselves on being imperfect (like life, like parenting, like children.)  What's so beautiful about imperfect quilts is that you can tell (and FEEL) that they were made by a human.  There is no denying the difference between how handmade feels vs. machine/factory made.

Imperfect also means that it's perfectly ok to actually use the quilt.  For the beach, the park, changing dirty diapers on or tummy time.  Share it with your dog or wrap yourself up in it to stay cozy and feel loved.   Yes! You can throw it in the washer.

Pricing

Pricing varies.

There are several things that affect the cost:

-The quality of fabric chosen

-The size 45"x60"(ish) - 60"x72"(ish).

-How intricate & detailed the design & quilting are

Our average baby quilt takes anywhere between 20-25 hours to create and on average ranges between $175-$280.  Before you decide, let's chat and talk about how we can make your quilt special for a price that is right for you.  We would LOVE to make a baby quilt for you and your family.  We believe that meaningful gifts carry our legacy and are priceless.
